Today we will be talking about goods and services. We will look at the different stages of production and learn what different types of goods there are (pgs. 3-7 in your textbook).

Worksheet: Chapter 1 What is Marketing?

Activity: When you finish the worksheet, read pgs 2 and 3 on Jones soda. When you are finished, go to their website "http://www.jonessoda.com/" and then go to "http://www.pepsi.com/home.php" You are to then create a chart comparing the two websites highlighting the strengths weaknesses of each. This will be out of 10 marks so make sure that you come up with more than one strength or weakness. Please complete this task on the computer and e-mail it to southwell_j@sd36.bc.ca when you have finished.

Today you will be looking at some possible careers in the field of marketing. You will be given a worksheet, please complete it and hand it in.

Marketing 12:
The superbowl is on of the most important day for advertising on television. Use the internet to answer the following questions.

1. What are the 5-10 top advertisements of the 2009 Superbowl?
2. What makes these ads successful?
3. What are some of the least successful ads of the 2009 Superbowl?
4. Why are these ads not successful?
5. It costs just over 2 million dollars to air a 30 second commercial. Is it worth it for large companies to pay the money to advertise during the superbowl? Why or why not.
